Brazilian Table in Berlin: Ministry of Agriculture and WWF

The Brazilian Roundtable on Sustainable Livestock was invited by the Brazil-Germany Agripolitical Dialogue (APD) for a one-week exchange in Berlin to participate in a series of discussions on the impacts of the European Union's Green Deal on Brazilian agriculture.

Luiza Bruscato, Executive Director of the Brazilian Roundtable, is representing the organization in these discussions, along with Mauro Armelim, Executive Director of Friends of the Earth, one of the Roundtable's associates.

Yesterday, June 12, in the morning, they visited the German Ministry of Agriculture, where they discussed aspects of German organic production and the guidelines and impacts of the European Green Deal on German and Brazilian production.

In the afternoon, they met with the WWF team in Germany, including Roberto Maldonado and 10 other collaborators, to learn about the NGO's projects in Latin America and the guidelines used in these initiatives.

Later this week, the executives will meet with DRV/Grain Club and the Science and Politics Foundation; visit an ecological farm in Brandenburg; and participate in an event at the Brazilian Embassy in Germany. Stay tuned!

Today, June 14, the delegation of the technical mission in Berlin, which includes Luiza Bruscato, Executive Director of the Brazilian Roundtable on Sustainable Livestock, visited an organic livestock farm in Brandenburg, Germany.

The farm, called Sielmanns Naturlandschaft, produces cattle organically through grazing, animal welfare, high-quality feed, free-range cattle throughout the season, land care, among other actions. With a high density and variety of insects in the area, both flora and fauna benefit equally.

Located on a former military training ground "Döberitz," the 3,650-hectare area near Berlin and Potsdam is home to nearly a thousand endangered animal species. The site is preserved by the Heinz Sielmann Foundation.

Visitors can explore the landscape on about 55 kilometers of hiking trails, with rest areas and an observation tower that offers a unique panoramic view. There are also about 13 kilometers of marked paths available for horseback riding.

Later this week, the executives will meet with DRV/Grain Club and participate in an event at the Brazilian Embassy in Germany. Stay tuned!

On the same day, in the afternoon, the group met with executives from Grain Club (https://grain-club.de/), an agribusiness alliance formed by four German agricultural associations, and DRV (www.raiffeisen.de), an organization that encompasses all cooperatives in the German agricultural and food industry.

As an important link in the food value chain, DRV's 1,693 members represent companies in the production, marketing, and processing of plant and animal products, achieving sales of 85.6 billion euros per year. Farmers, gardeners, and winemakers are the owners of the cooperatives and members of the entity.

Grain Club represents the different chains of the grain, oilseed, and animal feed industries, from wholesale and foreign trade of agricultural raw materials to their processing. The entity's main action is to take an official position on agricultural and trade policy issues that affect the participating associations and their member companies.
